Abstract

Vaadin is a Rich Internet Application Framework which is very suitable for Rich Application Development. Everything is written in Java, HTML and cross-browser JavaScript is generated. Vaadin is based on GWT. Every component is a precompiled GWT component so ne compile phase is needed before the application can be executed in different browsers. The big difference whith GWT is that the logic runs server side instead of client side.

The guys behind Vaadin really listen to the active community. Maven integration, Spring integration,, Spring Roo integration, the add-on library, ... they all made it work. And also very important, everything is very well documented.

Bio

Glenn Dejaeger is a technical architect at AE. He is very interested in RIA's and has done projects in Flex and Vaadin. He also has experience with GWT and Wicket.
After comparing those different RIA technologies Vaadin is still his favourite. Why? You'll find the answers in this session!
